Holy cold! Spring never sounded so good. I did everything I could do to stay warm today. My heated blanket broke, so I layered on the fuzzy socks and topped them with fuzzy slippers. Later in the day, I cracked and drove to JCP and bought a new heated blanket! So happy I did, because now I am all tucked in under the cozy blanket full of heat! I can’t keep the heat in our apartment too high because Mr. Grumples gets way too hot and it’s not fair to him.
A little afternoon salad:
Carrots, croutons, almonds, iceberg lettuce blend, craisins, green bell pepper, pecans, roasted red pepper hummus, and garlic vinaigrette dressing!
Today, I worked on a new blog dedicated to helping others grow their following on social media. I feel like so many people have inspiring stories, delicious recipes and awesome ideas that need to be heard! The site is small right now, but I plan on adding 10-20 new posts a day. I hope it helps others get their content seen! I know I have a lot of work to do before it looks good; but we all start somewhere!
Before I post anything resent, I need to do a quick update with some of my Instagram photos. I going here and there can get pretty confusing.
I’ll try to put this in the correct order. The weekend went by so fast, I can hardly remember it. Thursday, I went to the salon and had my hair dyed “Megan Fox Black.” Not kidding, that’s what my stylist called it. It’s pretty dark, but it’s growing on me. My hair was turning a gross ash color from the blonde.
I packed all my bags, and headed for Iowa later that afternoon. Our ten hour drive ended up being a thirteen hour drive because of the snow.
Grumples is such a great dog. Most dogs do not like being in the car, but he loves it. He gets really excited. I make a lot of stops for him, so he can run a little and stretch his legs. I put his bed in the back and keep the car cold just the way he likes it!
He loves resting his head on the passenger. It’s so adorable. I’m sure you are all annoyed with my Grumples talk, but you’ll have to get over it. I refuse to stop. He makes me so happy.
I went to bed as soon as I got home. Driving when you are tired is one of the scariest things to do. My body probably hated me for putting so much caffeine in it, but I had no choice.
My internal alarm clock still woke me up early the next morning. I wasn’t too mad about it. It was the only time I had to spend with my parents. (Friday Post)
A little after waking up, I had my coffee, a bowl of Raisin Bran, bananas and almond milk.
After baking, running errands, and hanging around the kitchen with my mom, I made a little salad and did some blogging.
-Hard boiled eggs, croutons, cucumber, avocado, lettuce, oyster crackers, and peanuts.
Later Friday night, I headed over to Cindy’s house to visit. I could talk to them for hours. When I got home my mom made an awesome dinner! (Lightened up cheesy chicken enchiladas)
I passed out like a baby watching Netflix way early Friday night. I’m so glad I did, because Saturday hit me like a ton of bricks.
Saturday morning, my mom made me a cute little travel/hotel healthy snack bag to take with me. She’s adorable.
We got to the Hotel (Hotel Blackhawk) around 2:30 and then spent some time getting ready for the wedding. I don’t know what it is, maybe it’s the kid in me, but hotels excite me. I love staying in them.
I also love how hotels stock up the room with snacks! They don’t put a price on them so people think they are free…but wrong-o! That snickers bar was like $5!
It was finally wedding time. Taylor (bride) looked stunning. I didn’t take many pictures. I wanted to enjoy my night to the fullest without snapping photos constantly. I did a couple Instagram shots, but that’s about it. I did have a pretty handsome wedding date.
After the wedding, before dinner, we all had drinks from the bar and snacked on appetizers. Now that I am getting older and don’t get crazy over calories, I actually enjoy drinking. (Yes, I used to care way too much about calories) I had some bad experiences with alcohol in the past which led me to steer away from drinking for a very long time. I know I don’t need to justify anything, but I know I’m confusing people.
For dinner we had a starter salad, baked chicken, some kind of mashed potatoes that were awesome, and asparagus. I tried to get a photo, but I didn’t want to spend the night snapping away, and it was really dark in the hall anyways. I have the photo, but it looks like a brain. My photo skills were not up to par that night. The food was great. Oh, and we had more wine.
I had a really good time. I wish I could share some of the crazy/funny stories but too many people I know read my blog and I have to make my blog somewhat appropriate. Life is way too short to be serious all the time. I have been changing my views and attitude towards my life and I have been a happier person lately. And if it takes a couple glasses of wine to make me not so “uptight”, then oh well! (Yes, I just admitted to being uptight, too) Why do I keep justifying everything? I know I don’t have to; it’s a bad habit I need to break!
Guess who woke up at 8:30 in the morning…this girl. Coffee didn’t even taste good. That never happens!
Courtney and I headed down to the hotel breakfast buffet for some food. I continued to chug water because it was the only thing waking me up. For breakfast, I had a vegetable omelet, a pancake, and fresh fruit.
After breakfast, we drove to the Putnam museum to visit the Princess Diana exhibit! This was so exciting. This had to be my favorite part of the weekend. I have so many pictures to share with you all.
Around 3 pm on Sunday, I headed back to Detroit. I was still running on a couple hours of sleep. For some reason, I was restless. We got home around 11 pm. I made a turkey sandwich and fell asleep.

You must’ve been in the Davenport area :). I’m from very close to there- but now live in Chicago.

I love how honest you are about the drinking thing, even though you’re totally right that you don’t need to justify it to anyone. As I try to lose some weight (nothing too drastic, just making some better changes), I struggle with whether or not to drink alcohol and try to pay attention to what exactly I’m drinking and sometimes it can be exhausting! This post was so refreshing and comforting to me because I know a glass of wine or two won’t destroy my efforts.
Love your blog – been a fan for a long time =)
