Guess what happens this weekend?Β It’s officially FALL! I’ll be putting up my decor, ordering my first PSL, and eating my pumpkin bars! I may even tap into an oldie and watch Hocus Pocus. I’ve been doing a lot of DIY projects this past month. My most recent project was putting together a couple of fall wreaths. My mom and I used to make wreaths every year when I was a little girl, and it was so much fun. Storebought wreaths can be pretty pricey, so it pays off to make your own. Plus, it’s easy and so much fun to do it yourself! What a better way to kick off Fall? Let’s get started!
A couple of weeks ago, I headed to Hobby Lobby to pick up everything I needed for the wreaths. Hobby Lobby and Michaels usually has their seasonal stuff half off, and a 40% off coupon for a full-priced item. I typically screenshot it before heading to the store. If you don’t have those crafts stores near you, you could try Joan’s Fabric and Walmart too.
I bought two wreaths, burlap, ribbons, floral wire, hot glue sticks, and the wreath decor in the seasonal section. The store wasn’t busy, so I laid the wreaths down in the aisle and placed the flower piecesΒ on top to get a feel for how it would look.Β
The bow comes first. You can watch tutorials on YouTube for traditional wreath bows, but I wanted to do something a little bit different. I love the black gingham with the burlap, so I decided to combine the two.
I used floral wire to create the bow’s center loop. If you are going to use floral wire, make sure you have wire scissors. You won’t be able to cute through this wire with regular craft scissors.Β
Figure out where you want your bow to hang on the wreath, and attach it to the wreath with the wire.Β
I cut ten-inch burlap and ribbon strips.Β
I attached them together with hot glue at the ends.Β Β
I used four loops for the first bow and three loops for the second.Β
The first bowl had two loops hot-glued and tucked under the center loop with extra strips hanging. I spread out thee of the loops for the second bow. You can get creative and do whatever you think looks best!
I used the wire cutters to remove the stems from the floral pieces.
After the bows were attached, I placed all the flowers and decor where I wanted them to go before gluing them onto the wreath.
I used a ton of hot glue to attach the pumpkins and flowers. The pumpkins were made out of foam, so they weren’t heavy.
It only took me 35-minutes to make both! They each cost me around $23.00 to make! The ones I had my eye on were well over $60, plus it’s more special when you make them yourself.
If you’re going to use hot glue to attach everything, make sure you don’t put the wreath up during HOT days because the glue could melt. I learned my lesson last year.
I love how the wreath looked on my black door, but I also loved it on my mom’s blue door!Β
I’m going to work on my front porch decor this weekend, so I’ll show you the whole look with the mums, new doormat, and other porch decor when it’s finished! I’m hoping to have that on my weekly recap on Monday.Β
I hope you guys feel inspired to get a little crafty this weekend!Β
Questions for you!

Would love to see your take on Christmas Wreaths!
The last DIY I did was my door wreath & entry way, for fall this past Wednesday.
I always have some sort of wreath hanging. I change put the flowers and decorations every holiday/season. I just feed the wires through and secure the stems with a bend. Then when I want to change them out, I gently pull them and insert new ones.
Loving the white pumpkins and sunflowers. Looks more organic to me and I love the simplicity with the added textures.
Taralynn McNitt says
I may do a couple different Christmas ones! My mind is going in way too many directions with ideas π π
I bet your house is so Fall-ready and cozy!
Using the same wreath with the different flowers and wire is a great idea!
β€οΈ thanks so much!

I love this! Iβm in Tucson so itβs going to be hot for a while longer. Today itβs 91 degrees. Any suggestions for what I can use instead of hot glue?
What are your tips for doing crafts with the dogs around? Do you do them in a room with the door closed? Every time I try to get crafty my cat is all over everything. She loves the sewing machine. Or at least the thread and the fabric with the pins πΉ
Taralynn McNitt says
You can use the floral wire! π Just wrap it around the stems and the sticks π
Well, I do mine on the kitchen table so the dogs can’t get to them! If you allow your cat on tables, you may just want to lock her out lol
Tess says
This is outstanding. Can you make me one?
Taralynn McNitt says
Aww, thanks, Tess!!
Samantha Bunker says
Oh how I love fall time!! Seeing fall decor tutorials literally makes my heart swell!
1. I would love to see you do Christmas wreaths! Or any christmas decor tutorials. Give us all the things!!!
2. I’m currently working on a dresser I got off Craigslist. We’re turning it into a dresser/changing table for our nursery so I’m excited to get it all done and put together!
3. Team BOTH. All the pumpkins. They each bring something to the table so I like to have a mixture of the colors. I’m just so excited that it’s finally acceptable to HAVE pumpkins out. Since I live in Tucson I have to rely on fake pumpkins until we get a little cooler weather.

TEAM WHITE PUMPKIN!

I think anyone can do this for sure! Crafty or not! π

These are so pretty! I was never much of a decoration person, which was alright with the stringent HOA rules of my neighborhood, but with everything going on this week (it was a very rough weekend, and we have to say goodbye to a pet this week, most likely), this looks like a really good way to keep myself occupied. Thank you so much for sharing your creativity and projects on here, it’s always so fun to see the process!!

2. My last DIY was painting and staining a table from ikea. It came out great and inspired me to do more diys.
3. I love both, but I usually lean towards white pumpkins because theyβre called Cinderella pumpkins and I think thatβs so cute π«πβοΈ
