Good Morning!
I’m not sure if I know how to do this anymore. It’s been days since I’ve done this thing called a “blog.” I’ve had a lot going on and so much to get ready for. I have a lot of recaps to share and tons of posts to catch you guys upon. The past couple of days have been about organization. Now that everything is under control, I have time to blog and reconnect with you all. I’ve missed you guys:(
I went to Charleston for a bachelorette party last weekend, and it was so fun. I normally don’t like breaking posts up, but I took over 600 photos last weekend and want to share as many as possible (without overwhelming you.) I decided to start with day one of the trips before all of the bachelorette weekend festivities began. I packed up early on Thursday morning, dropped Grumples off with Kyle, picked up Becca at her place, and said “adios” to the Queen City. We made it to Charleston around 1 pm. We had a couple of detours (per usual) involving pumpkin spice lattes, random photos at abandoned warehouses, and bathroom breaks because of the pumpkin spice lattes.
We wanted to spend a day down there to shop and explore before meeting up with the girls. We booked a cute hotel near Sullivan’s Island (The Shem Creek Inn) on the water, close to the beach, close to downtown Charleston, and surrounded by fun restaurants. The staff was extremely friendly and very fun to chat with. After unloading the bags and getting settled in, we headed to Sullivan’s Island Beach to explore. There is so much history on the island and tons of hidden treasures. It’s a lot quieter than Folly Beach, which is where we usually go.
We were super hungry after driving around. We were running on pumpkin spiced lattes and string cheese.
We stuck to the theme of the island and had dinner at Poe’s Tavern. Edgar Allen Poe spent a lot of time on Sullivan’s Island. He wrote the short story “The Gold Bug” “I don’t think noffin about it –I nose it” while he was on the island. There are roads named after Edgar Allen Poe on the island, and the Tavern has items on the menu named after some of his literature.Becca and I split a salad and an appetizer. We had the grilled chicken salad with mixed greens, applewood bacon (on the side for me), avocado, grape tomatoes, hard-boiled eggs, blue cheese crumbles, a large Pimiento cheese crouton & tomato vinaigrette.
We heard their fries are worth every bite, so we ordered a plate! You can get them all dressed up, but ketchup and ranch were good enough for me. They lived up to the hype and worth every last greasy calorie!
It was POURING when we got to the beach, but that didn’t stop us.
That is what umbrellas are for.
That umbrella saved me from having one of those “white t-shirt moments.” I guess could have embraced it and pulled one of those Nicholas Sparks scenes he likes to write about. I love bestie getaways!
?A Bestie Weekend in D.C.?
A Beach Day With My Bestie ?
D.C. is Always Calling.
Looking Glass Rock Hike, Asheville, NC!
Day Trip to Asheville. ?And then the sun came out thirty minutes later.
We were supposed to have a 90% chance of rain all weekend but got extremely lucky with sunshine.
Thankful for the sun ♥
There is something about the beach that I love. I sometimes wonder if I’d ever get sick of it if I lived on it. I’m not sure that’s possible…
We headed back to the hotel to get our workout clothes on, grab some coffee, and go for a walk.
Bring on the beach waves! I decided to do NOTHING to my hair all weekend. Actually, I rarely do anything to my hair on a normal day. I just knew the Charleston weather wouldn’t cooperate if I tried.
Suppose you are like me and LOVE wearing just basic stuff…do yourself a favor and check out the J Crew basic tees. They are the SOFTEST shirts I have ever worn and hold up so well in the dryer. I ended up buying it in six colors last week. They’re perfect for layering, lounging around the house, and workouts! We threw on some workout clothes and walked around the docks and marsh.
The views were gorgeous and didn’t feel like real life. We grabbed some coffee at Vintage cafe before going to the beach to watch the sun go down. I loved the inside of this cafe. It was very rustic and beachy. The decor was a lot more inviting than the staff. I’ve never felt as uncomfortable and unwelcome in my entire life. Luckily I forgot about the experience as soon as I tried their coffee. I ordered a cappuccino with skim milk. It was strong, creamy, and delicious. We headed back to the beach to watch the sun go down and walk along the water.
I only took about a million photos.
If you like Wasabi…these are amazing!!!! They’re the Gold Emblem Wasabi Peas at CVS! We headed to the grocery store to grab snacks (greek yogurt, fresh fruit, hummus, veggies) and hung out at the pool until ten! We did a pool workout, and it was so fun to switch it up. We did laps, treading water, got out to do burpees, jumping jacks, sit-ups, lunges, and planks! The pool was quiet, so we didn’t have to worry about people laughing at our workout nonsense.
I hope you enjoyed my photos from day one! I’ll get the rest of the bachelorette weekend recap posted ASAP! XO
Questions for you!
- When you LOVE a piece of clothing at a store, do you buy multiples?
- Do you take an abundance of photos on trips?
- Do you think you would be sick of the beach if you lived on the water?
Jess says
The photos in this post are seriously gorgeous! Charleston is on my bucket list of places to visit.
If there’s a clothing item I fall in love with, I definitely try to buy multiples. I’ve actually been on a search for a basic t-shirt and the price for the J. Crew shirt you mentioned is perfect. I’m going to have to order a few.
It depends on the trip. When I went to California this year, I took a ridiculous amount of photos. I need to work on taking more photos when I go on trips to have to look back on.
Everyone says I would get sick of the beach if I lived near it, but I really don’t think I would. It’s refreshing and beautiful. I wish I lived closer to the beach.
I’m looking forward to reading more about your weekend! 🙂
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi Jess!!
Thank you very much!
I loved the prices of those Tees as well. You can’t beat a sale! You won’t be disappointed.
I love looking back on photos, but sometimes I need to remember to be in the moment!
I agree!:) I live about three hours, but I’d like to live closer! At least close to the mountains and a lake beach.

Hi Taralynn,
I love seeing all your adventure posts, they are sooo much fun and it makes me want to explore my town. As for the questions:
1. yes….everytime…….like I buy a minimum of two usually more if I REALLLYY love the piece because you never know when you’ll come across it again right?
2. I love taking pictures of the scenery around me when I go on trips because I love catching that moment in time and I like taking pictures of my friends and family, though I hardly ever take pictures of myself I prefer to be behind the camera.
3. I actually live about 20 mins from 4 different beaches and no, I never get tired of it, honestly nothing is better than getting a bunch of beach stuff, grabbing your friends and just relaxing in the sun.
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi Caitlyn!
Thanks so much!
I agree! Nothing worse than never finding an item as great again. I actually bought fifteen old navy white tank tops with the built in bras and I STILL WEAR THEM TO THIS DAY! That was three years ago!
I prefer to be behind the camera too and if I didn’t have a blog, I’d only be being the camera.
Love that! What beach do you live near?
Taralynn
Caitlyn says
I live in Florida so there are no lack of beaches to say the least, I live in a smaller town so not many people know about it, but it’s in southern florida, and actually south beach is only about an hour or so away from me so that’s pretty cool
Bethany @LuluRuns says
Your photos are gorgeous!! I need you to teach me your ways 😉 I just got a new camera and am in that “learning how to take a single photo” with it phase.
I love the beach- if I could live by the beach and mountains- that’d be great 😉
Taralynn McNitt says
Thank you so much Bethany!
These were just taken with my phone actually 😀 I rarely use my camera unless it’s for food!
I’d love to live by both!!!
xo xo hope you’re doing well!
Kathy T. says
1) Sometimes! I try not to too often because I struggle with wearing the same types of things anyway, and not being super creative with my clothes. It would be really bad if everything was exactly the same, and just a different color! 😛
2) Yes!! Everyone is always annoyed with me. Except my best friend…she usually takes more haha. We just moved my PopPop up here to live with my parents, and while we were packing him up, I was looking through all of their pictures. My MomMom had dated and written who the subjects of each of the pictures were on the back. That’s my new goal, because I think it’s so important to be be able to share them with people in the future.
3) I can say from personal experience, NO! I grew up my whole life living just a few minutes from the beach, and now that I’m married, I live on the Chesapeake Bay. If I could share a picture of the view, I absolutely would!
Also, I’m so excited you guys went to Poe’s Tavern. My husband and I went to Seabrook Island (about a half an hour outside of Charleston, south of Sullivan’s) for our honeymoon, and had lunch at Poe’s one day for lunch. So good! I can’t wait to see the rest of your posts about your weekend. Nothing is better than Charleston and the surrounding islands <3
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi Kathy!!
I definitely do that. I wear the same type of clothing a lot! I’m so basic it’s sad lol I love being comfortable!
I love that my best friend takes just as many photos as I do! My mom does it and my boyfriend loves watching me take photos. It’s cute 🙂 Sounds like your mom is SUPER organized !
Love hearing that! I’d be sad if that LOVE went away after living there.
Yes…Poe’s was REALLY good and I need to try a burger next time.
Can’t wait to share the rest of my trip with you!
xo
Jenn says
Yes! I was hoping you’d go to Poe’s Tavern – we have one here in Jacksonville. They have the BEST burgers that are absolutely worth every calorie!
1. I do if it’s something I know I’ll wear all the time. I have the same workout top from Kohl’s in about 5 different colors!
2. I take way too many pictures, especially now that I have a “real” camera. I’m going to Charlotte this weekend (yay!), so there will be a lot of photo taking.
3. I doubt it – I LOVE the beach!
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi Jenn!
Poe’s was SO GOOD & the service was great. WORTH EVERY CALORIE!
Workout tops and bottoms are no brainers for buying multiples! All about comfort 🙂
Ahhhh!!! Have fun 🙂 What are you doing in Charlotte!!!
xo xo
Jenn says
My friend is a huge Panthers fan so we’re meeting up and going to the game. We’ll be in town for a few days, so we’ll be doing lots of walking around and exploring 🙂
Taralynn McNitt says
So sorry you had to cancel your trip! I hope you make it to Charlotte
Kayla says
I always seem to take a zillion photos on my camera and on my phone! I love going back and looking at old photos, oh the memories. I recently started using Flickr to share my photos with friends and family to not clog up my Facebook and the quality of them looks so much better.
I live on Cape Cod and live within walking distance to many beaches. I have never gotten sick of the beach, I’m a major beach bum! I even go in the winter time for walks and sunsets! I don’t think I ever will get sick of the beach. I also don’t think I could live anywhere that isn’t near a beach. I think I would miss the beach too much.
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi Kayla!
I love doing that, especially on the blog. Sometimes I go back and read about my adventures for the memories. I love it.
I’ve never been to Cape Cod but I hear wonderful things! Love hearing that you don’t get sick of the beach!
xo
Kadee Anderson says
These photographs stroller STUNNING. I’ve always loved photography. I dont know what camera you use, but it is amazing. And it is like you’re living a Nicholas Sparks novel. Your life is so full of adventure! I definitely take an abundance of photographs, but not just on vacation. In real, every day life, too. I have 2 babies that make that happen! ? I would never get tired of for beach! Hope your day is great!
Kadee
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi Kadee!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!
These were actually shot with my iPhone. I was pretty lazy and didn’t take my actual camera.
I take like 20 photos of my eggs on an average morning, so I feel ya 😉 My dog takes up most of my storage as well.
Hope you have a great day too!

Alexa says
Oh my gosh these pictures make me want to pack a bag and head to SC right now! I grew up going to Mt. Pleasant every summer and hitting the beaches of Sullivan’s and Isle of Palms. I haven’t been back in a couple years, but I need to go! Thanks for sharing!!
Taralynn McNitt says
Thank you Alexa!!!
I love that part of Charleston and how different it is from Folly! You should definitely start packing a bag and visit before it gets too cold 😀
xo
Olivia says
Hi Taralynn!
1. YES! ALL THE TIME! I have quite a few pieces in my closet that have twins of a different color. If you love it, BUY ALL OF IT!
2. I always get so caught up in the moments that I forget to take pictures. My family are always the ones asking and remembering to take photos.
3. I live about 10 minutes from the beach in Florida. I do NOT like the beach. I go maybe once a year with friends. Although it could just be me or our beach. I’m on the east coast so the water doesn’t tend to be as pretty as it is on the gulf coast. However a friend of mine lives right on the beach and spends all day every day and is a professional surfer, so to each their own I guess (I’m more of a theme park person and have annual passes to all the Orlando parks)! 🙂
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi Olivia!
I couldn’t agree more with you!
I need to be more like you and get caught in the moments or sure. Not taking photos is not a bad thing 🙂
& you’re right. Each to their own! We are all different:) I really think it does have to do with the beach. I’d love to live on a quiet beach with a big front porch where I can write and listen to the waves every morning while I sip my coffee! <3
xo xo
Linda @ the Fitty says
Sometimes you gotta take time off of work blog to actually live life so you have things to blog about!:)
Taralynn McNitt says
Thats most definitely true 😉
Taylor says
Hi Tara!
I actually laughed when I read that you bought the same shirt in 6 different colors. I do this ALL the time. If it’s something I know I love and will wear all the time and fits perfectly, then WHY NOT?! I’ve been known to do it with shirts, pants, jackets, jewelry, etc.
I too love to take a million pictures whether I am on vacation or taking pictures of my nieces and nephews, scenery, my food. I am saving up to buy a nice camera instead of using my iphone but it’s just so convenient. There are so many apps out nowadays that it can make simple pictures look really neat.
I’m not sure about the beach question!!! When I go on vacation, I am usually ready on the last day to come home. I prefer fall and winter over summer and I HATE humidity. I live in PA so I definitely like having all of my seasons. I think i’d enjoy it for awhile but would definitely miss the cooler weather.
Your trip looked so much fun. Hope you have some fun bachelorette stories to share with us 🙂
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi Taylor!
I agree! I mean…if you’re going to wear it all the time, might as well grab it in a couple different colors.
To be honest…I have a nice camera but I use my iPhone for everything. It’s more convenient, easier to edit, easier to upload, easier to carry and does the job. All of the photos in the post were taken with my iPhone. 😀
I am always like that on the last day of vacation no matter where I go! Nothing like your own bed and your own coffee maker 😉
xo
Amanda @ The Kitcheneer says
Such a fun start to the weekend! LOVE your pictures and LOVE Charleston! I go to their Crossfit gym Integrity every time I go for work! And yes for buying multiples! Especially if its those PERFECT jeans that seem to flatter everything! Right now I am obsessed with jeans from KUT from the kloth.
Taralynn McNitt says
A very fun start!
I love Charleston as well! I’ve never even heard of those jeans. I’m like that with jeans as well, especially jean shorts! This is horrible, but I bought 15 pairs of patterned shorts at the Gap while I was in Savannah because 1. they were one sale and 2. they fit perfectly!
🙂 xo
Bethany says
When LOVE a piece of clothing at a store, do you buy multiples?
– Omg… I found those JCrew tees a couple months back and I am OBSESSED! I bought it in two colors and I think I need more! They can be dressed up or dressed down, and they are SO COMFY!!!!
Do you take an abundance of photos on trips?
– Oh, always!!
Do you think you would give sick of the beach if you lived on the water?
– You don’t get sick of it, but you lose your fascination for it at times. I was born and raised 1/4 mile from the ocean in Rhode Island.. and I never went to the beach! I would go to low key local hangout spots on the water that didn’t have many people… There is nothing worse than getting trampled over by tourists! You appreciate it more when you are a bit further away! Folly beach makes me so anxious… Sullivan’s Island and Isle of Palms are MUCH more low key and right up my alley! But there is always a special place in my heart for the ocean 🙂
Taralynn McNitt says
YES! I agree 🙂 I’ve never blogged about a basic tee, but these are game changers. They don’t shrink up in the dryer either. I’m wearing my pink one now! so comfy.
Photos for dayzzzz
I believe that for sure. I agree about Sullivans and Isle of Palms! It’s all about what mood your in!

Brittany M. says
Hi Taralynn!
I’m glad to see you’re back. I’ve been looking back at some of your old posts for recipes especially the pumpkin ones. I tried to make the pumpkin cream cheese pie. I put a little too much of something but I can’t figure out what it is! I’m also just looking in to your healthy recipes in general. Do you have any recommendations of where to get additional recipes?
I have been known to buy things I like in multiples. Guilty. Totally guilty. I was just thinking today of getting monogrammed long sleeved shirts in multiple colors! I love leggings too.
I take tons of pictures. I have a nice camera but hate lugging it around on my neck so I used my iPhone. Guilty again. I love taking pictures on your trips because when I look back at them it reminds me exactly of how I felt when I was on the trip.
I love the beach. If I lived there all the time, I don’t think I’d ever have a good hair day! LOL I could definitely adapt to the beautiful scenery and the amazing weather. I’ve been to Charleston but I went to Folly beach. I would love to go to S Island (Not Shutter of course). Thanks for your post!
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi Brittany!!
Which pumpkin cream cheese pie did make? The crustless ones?
What type of recipes are you looking for!
Oh…girl. You can never have enough leggings….ESPECIALLY in the winter.
You’re like me with the camera and with the iPhone! 🙂
I had bad hair all weekend lol, but there was NO fighting it. Not at all.
Yes, don’t go to shutter island haha
xo xo
Brittany M. says
It was the light pumpkin cream cheese pizza dessert! I had to look back and search for it! I am looking for easy to prepare chicken or ground turkey recipes Those seemed to be the healthiest choices. I like salmon too. I need to start doing some meal prep too! Any advice?
Jennifer says
Haha I have to really love it in order to do that! Especially with shoes. I have really wide feet so most shoes don’t fit that well. So if I find a pair that fits perfectly, I buy all of the colors!!
Yes!! You can never have too many… right? 😉
NO WAY! I don’t think I could ever get sick of it. I agree with one of your other readers where you may lose the appreciation for it by living next to it all the time, but there’s no way I could ever get sick of it.
Your photos are all so beautiful! I can’t wait to read about the rest of the weekend! 🙂
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi Jennifer!
I do that with shoes too…mostly sandals or running shoes.
RIGHT!
I think you’re right about the appreciation of it all. I can see that. I never appreciated the country in Iowa and now that I’m not there, I miss it! (especially the lack of traffic) lol
& thank so much. I can’t wait to share!
xo
Brittany Joy says
When LOVE a piece of clothing at a store, do you buy multiples?
– I do! And then I get very upset when it finally becomes unwearable. I am pretty habitual when it comes to clothing and right now none of my usual stores are doing much for me. I need to find some new stores!
Do you take an abundance of photos on trips?
– Yes and no, I love taking photos but sometimes I get a little upset with myself if I am taking too many photos and try to remind myself to live in the moment. I’m trying to find a happy medium in a tech-y world.
Do you think you would give sick of the beach if you lived on the water?
– NO! Possibly if it was somewhere super humid because it can make me feel ill, but otherwise no. Summer and fall are my two favorite seasons and I would love to live in a beach house year-round!
Taralynn McNitt says
My stores go through phases too! Sometimes I Love H&M or GAP and sometimes I hate everything they have. I’m a weird shopper! I also shop for comfort most of the time.
I think it’s good you think like that. I’m the same way! I can get pretty carried away..hence the 600 photos.
I’d also love to live at a beach house year round, but I wonder if I’d miss christmas and the snow…maybe a northern beach 😀
Samantha Staffa says
I honestly don’t and can’t remember a time I have and really need to start! I love target’s Merona long sleeves!
I have never been a big picture taker (more so now that I passively blog) but I think when I go to Seattle next month I’ll take a bunch and drive my boyfriends nuts! As for the beach…absolutely not! Is that even possible? Especially if you’re on a beach on the ocean! It’s so relaxing.
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi Sam!
I love the target basics as well! 🙂 I do the multiple pieces with them too.
I hope you have a blast in Seattle and do take tons of photos so I can see them on the blog!
I have a hard time believing it possible as well!
xo
Kate says
1. Not really -the only item I have in multiples are my holy grail jeans becuase they fit perfectly. I buy them in different washes though. They are AG ankle skinny jeans! Fit perfectly. So good.
2. I like to take some pictures but I think sometimes people miss out on the actual experience by being wrapped up in taking photos. So I take a couple and then stop so I can take in wherever I’m at. Next year my trips are Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic and plan to get some good photos. Didn’t you go to the DR? Did you enjoy your trip?
3. I live on water, a lake-not a tropical type of beach but it doesn’t get old.
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi Kate!
There is nothing better than a perfectly fit pair of jeans! I get like that with them as well, especially shorts!
You’re right about that. YOU’LL LOVE THE DR! It is absolutely gorgeous. I can’t wait to go back.
Glad to hear that! I’d love to live on a clear lake by the mountains one day!

I’m like you. I always take HUNDREDS of photo on trips. Gotta get that perfect shot, right? 😉
Sullivan Island is stunning!
I’m weird and like to read menu restaurants, and legit everything on the menu from Poe’s tavern sounds amazing!

RIGHT!! 🙂
You’d love the literature filled menu at Poe’s then. I don’t blame you because I get tons of yummy ideas from restaurants!

Why would you get the bacon on the side?
Taralynn McNitt says
Becca doesn’t like bacon on hers salads and I love bacon.

I can’t wait to read about the rest of your weekend! You and Becca look so good.
Taralynn McNitt says
Thank you Hilary! 🙂

I will buy multiple pairs of jeans in different washes if they fit well! I’m so picky so when I find good jeans ((or shorts!!)) I buy it!
I am a huge picture taker too and my friends and fella hattttee it!!! They get so annoyed and call me “paparazzi”!!! So funny
We visit Seabrook island near Charleston often and I don’t think I’d ever get sick of the beach. I feel like a completely different person when I’m there. its as if life is slower and more relaxed. Maybe it’s the fresh, salty air??
Taralynn McNitt says
Yes. Me too!!
lol my friends and I are the same way as you! My brother is the one that gets annoyed with me! haha
I feel the same way. The air is so fresh and the sounds of the waves are so therapeutic. Salty hair, don’t care 😉

Dana says
I buy multiples of basics: tees, camisoles, tights, undies. They can be hard to find comfy ones so I stock up!
I take pretty limited amounts of photos. I like taking pictures, but I don’t want to miss the moment.
After being landlocked for the last nine years, I moved to the beach in Seattle, the best decision ever for me. The water is so calming. I feel at peace every day when I see it.
Taralynn McNitt says
Those are all basics that you must buy several of. I do that with bras (so hard for me to find ones I like)
I need to be more like that and enjoy the moment more!
I would LOVE to visit seattle, but i’d probably never come back to Charlotte!

I live on the beach in Florida and I will never get tired of it!! We actually have a Poe’s Tavern in my town too. I think there are only 2 or 3 locations but it is SO GOOD. Can’t wait to hear about the rest of your weekend!

Hi Rachel!
You’re so lucky to live by the beach AND BY POES! So good 🙂

Tara @ Run and Live Happy says
Your pics are gorgeous, as always!
I always buy the same thing in several different colors! I’m glad I’m not the only one!
Yes I take an overabundance of pictures on trips. After a vacation it will take me a week to go through them all!
I would NEVER get sick of the beach if I lived there. That is actually my dream to have a house on a beach. There is just something so calming about it. I could stare at it all day!
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi Tara!
You’re definitely not the only one. I think all of us ladies DEFINITELY understand.
Lol going through my photos is one of my favorite things to do!
I think that is one of my dreams too!

Jessie @ The Acquired Sass says
1. Absolutely. I really only own like 5 different tops, I just happen to own them in a million colors & prints so I don’t look like I’m wearing the same thing every day, but PSYCH.
2. Yup. Though, probably not as many as you, since for now I’m just taking pics on my iPhone. Discussion of buying a real camera has begun, but so many times I wouldn’t want to lug it to places with some of the best views, like hiking. Do you usually lug a big, nice camera when you go, or just use your phone?
3. Don’t know that I would pick to live at the beach, maybe, I think I would rather live along a river or lake, but I would definitely never get sick of that. I love the water!
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi Jessie!!
Hahahaha. I own too many shirts but end up wearing the same ten shirts!
I also only do the iPhone photos. UNLESS I HAVE TO BRING OUT THE BULKY CAM! I just hate lugging it around. It stayed in my car the ENTIRE weekend…
I’d also love to live on a clear lake with mountains somewhere in montana or out west!:D
xo I hope you had a great weekend!
Taralynn
Katherine Sanford says
Hi Taralynn!
1) Yes I absolutely love buying multiples of clothing when I find a fit I like! Recently I ordered a lot from target because I love their basic tees and tanks and I also ordered multiple colors in a pair of flats I like to wear for work! If it looks good and feels good why not buy multiples! 🙂
2) I definitely love taking pictures especially during special moments like vacation. I could be better at it but often times I get too wrapped up in the moment and kind of forget about the idea of stopping to take a pic!
3) No I would never get sick of living near a beach; I’ve been living right next to the Atlantic Ocean my whole life and it has never gotten old! 🙂 I live on the east coast of Florida about a half block away from the beach. I was born and raised in the community I live in now and I absolutely love it. Its a very small town feel where “everyone knows everyone” which would of course not appeal to all but I love it. :-
PS I love your blog and have been reading for years. I don’t comment often but i wanted you tell you i love reading your posts I’ve even gotten some of my friends hooked on reading your blog ?
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi Katherine!
Yes I LOVE Target’s basics! I have so many of theirs (and old navy) cardigans, because i’m obsessed.
I think If I didn’t want to share everything with my readers constantly (I literally go OMG MY READERS WILL LOVE THIS SHOT) and end up taking a billion!!! It’s so bad lol
That sounds like a wonderful place to live <3 Love hearing that people don’t get sick of it!
Thank you so much for the kind words about my blog! That means so much to me!!! Please comment more because I love getting to know my readers!
Love
Taralynn
Jen H. says
1. If it is not SUPER obvious, I have no shame in buying the same shirt in SIX different colors! It’s not often you find a shirt that fits just perfectly. When that happens you have to take advantage of it! 🙂 This should be an unwritten rule! lol
2. I do take a lot of pictures on trips. Butttt at the same time I have to remind myself to live in the moment and not be sitting on my phone the whole time….even if it is to capture a moment. When I am on trips I actually make a point to leave my phone behind so that I can enjoy my friends and family.
3. Give me a boat, beach, and lake and I would be set for life!!! I’m a lake girl and always will be!! My dream is to own a lake house and live there year round. Wisconsin preferably 🙂
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi Jen!
I couldn’t agree more with that. I do that everywhere I go!
I think that is wonderful! I make sure to do the same when I’m at dinner. I (because blogger) pull out my phone to take a photo of my food and then put it away the rest of the dinner. I like being in the moment.
I think so too! The weather in Wisconsin is perfect for lake life!

That was one day?! Holy smokes girl, your energy amazes me. And I want that pink umbrella!
– My husband is obsessed with J.crew tees actually! I am definitely guilty of the multiple buys too- Buckle had a sale this summer for cheap halter tanks and I went nuts. I feel like every picture on my blog im in one of those darn halters ?
– yes- the more photos the merrier.
– I could live on the beach every second of my whole life. My family grew up on the water so it’s in my blood.
Hope you are having a wonderful week, lovely . ? Can’t wait to read the rest!

Hi Mackenzie!
I am a ball on energy! Sometimes I have to remind myself to just relax and “do nothing.” I bought that umbrella at Target several years ago! 🙂
Lol I have six halter tanks (black, white, pink, green, striped, blue) I LOVE them! They were really in this year & the off the shoulder tops…don’t get me started on those!
xo xo Hope you had a great weekend!

Hi Taralynn!
The pictures are beautiful. I´m the same, if I go somewhere, I take million pictures and can´t stop. I love when the Sun goes down, it´s my favorite moment to take pictures. I came back from my weekend in Bologna and now it will take me two days to check all the pictures, select etc… 🙂
Regarding clothes, when some jeans or T-shirt suits me well, I buy miltiples. At least I´m sure it´s not gonna stay hidden in my closet. I think it´s better to have 5 pieces of one thing that suits you well rather than 5 pieces of something you wear once and forget. I love dresses and I know what shape is good for my body, so I often en up buying different colors of the same model.
About the beach, I live in Barcelona and can´t imagine now living far away from the beach. I don´t think I could ever get sick of the beach 🙂 I like to go there anytime – in the morning, in the afternoon or at night… I never get bored 🙂
It seems like you had a really cool weekend. And you look amazing! Your smile is contagious! That´s great to see you happy. Keep going this way 🙂
Best regards from Barcelona 🙂

Hi Milena!
Thanks so much. I am the same as you! Takes me a long time to sort through photos after a trip! All worth it though <3
I think all of us girls are the same. Although, my boyfriend will do the same! It kind of saves time shopping:)
I’d LOVE to visit Barcelona!!! I bet it’s amazing. I don’t know how you could EVER get sick of it.
Thank you for the kind words!! That just put a smile on my face 🙂

*When LOVE a piece of clothing at a store, do you buy multiples? – Definitely! I know that I will wear them over and over, so it’s worth buying more than one!
*Do you take an abundance of photos on trips? – I love taking photos, I usually end up taking too many!
*Do you think you would give sick of the beach if you lived on the water? – I used to live in Charleston and never, ever, got sick of the beach. I miss it so much, even though I love the mountains. I’m so happy you went to Sullivan’s Island and had a great time! I was there often and always stopped at Poes Tavern 🙂
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi Kyla!
It’s definitely worth it and never a waste:)
I feel ya girl, I feel ya!
The mountains are just as great! You replaced beauty with beauty! Do you ever get to visit Charleston!?
& yes Poe’s & Sullivan’s was wonderful!

What kind of camera do you use!! I just love all your pictures.

It looks like you had a great time in a beautiful place! I love all of your pictures.. you really have a eye for photography!
I always buy multiples when I find a favorite piece of clothing! Some people think I’m silly for doing it but it keeps me from having drawers full of clothes that I don’t love and hardly wear! I’m defiantly going to try a J Crew shirt… I’m all about soft clothes!
I think an abundance is a understatement when it comes to the amounts of photos I take on trips! I came back with thousands of photos after a couple weeks in Norway. I literally had at least two dozen of a baby within 10 minutes of each other while trying to catch him with a smile on his face! Ha! Although some times I do come back with only a picture or two from a great night out because we were having too much fun to remember a camera, which is also great!
I don’t think I could ever get sick of the water! I grew up in land locked Colorado, so I’ve always been obsessed with the water! I’m lucky that I now have the chance to live a half mile from the ocean outside of Boston so I can get my water views and visits in whenever I want!
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi Carly!!
Thank you so much!!
Oh boy, you’ll LOVE that Jcrew shirt!! SO SOFT.
You’re not the only one that does that with photos! I do that with my dog all the time lol
Sounds like you live in a beautiful place! I was landlocked growing up in Iowa so I feel ya!!

Hi Taralynn! I actually love the basic tees from J.Crew and I normally have those and their light sweaters in at least 4 different colors! I try to take a bunch of photos when I am on vacation or traveling because my mom always likes to see them, but I usually end up only taking a few here and there because I get too caught up in where I’m going or leave my phone/camera behind. I definitely don’t think I would get tired of living at the beach because I love it so much! The sound of the waves have such a calming effect and I love what the salt water does to my hair 🙂 Also do you mind sharing where you get your colored contacts from? I have brown eyes naturally and have a hard time finding colors that look natural over them, like the blues and greens. It’s always fun to try something different with my look and yours look great!
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi Lindsey!!
I just ordered their cashmere sweaters because they were on sale! You can’t go wrong with the comfort and quality.
I get that way as well. I would feel naked without my phone and I know that is totally a problem!
I got my contacts from ColourYourEyes.com!
So fun to try something new!!

Hey Tara!
1. Only if it’s a super good deal! Haha buying multiple of something you love is a good idea!
2. Of course! I would regret it if I didn’t! 🙂
3. I don’t think so i do love the beach. I live in Wisconsin and there are tons of lakes around here. My dream is to have a lake house! I for sure wouldn’t get sick of that 🙂
I LOVED your photos. My husband and I took a trip to Charleston last summer and we spent a lot of time on Sullivan’s island! I love Poe’s Tavern! Ahhh makes me miss it so much!
Can’t wait to see the rest of your photos from your trip!
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi Kelly!!
Yes always a good idea!
I’d never get sick of a lake house either, especially if it was surrounded by mountains!
Thanks you! It’s such a fun little weekend getaway destination! Glad you tried Poes!!

It felt like I was <3 It was so peaceful and so gorgeous!
Colleen says
Hi Tara! OMG those photos are beautiful!!! Makes me want to take a trip soon too 🙂
1 – YES! All the time haha, especially basic tee’s like that because you never know when they’ll stop selling them! My mom instilled a shopping addiction in me too so I’m sure that’s part of it 😉
2 – I’d like to take more photos on trips but I don’t go places that often! Hopefully once I graduate school (this May wahoo!) I’ll get more opportunity to explore this beautiful world we live in <3
3 – I don't think I could EVER get sick of the beach! I hope to own a beach house one day, even if it takes my lifetime to afford one haha!
Taralynn McNitt says
Thank you Colleeen!!
HAHAHA I blame my mom too!!!
I bet you’ll travel as soon as you’re done as well! Congrats on going to graduate school. Good for you!
I’d love that as well:) or a place by the mountains and lake!

Hi there!
Isn’t Sullivan’s Island so fun and cute? I live about 5-10 minutes from Sullivan’s and the Shem Creek Inn and love living here and near the beach! I never get sick of the beach and go a few times a week; my pup loves it even more!
If you come back to the area anytime soon and need a quick food fix, I suggest Verde! They have really good salads and awesome ingredients. After seeing that picture of the salad you got at Poe’s, I am definitely going to need to try it out! Taco Mamacita is really good there too. I could go on and on about places I suggest for food and drinks!
Oooh and next time you’re in the area, I suggest running the bridge! It’s such a pretty view and definitely a good workout with the incline. Or there is a neighborhood called Old Village that is beautiful and has a street/park called Pitt Street Bridge which is fun to run through/on too!
Anyway, glad you had a good time! The photos you took were awesome 🙂
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi Ally!
It’s adorable & I love it every time I visit it! It was nice visiting this time because its as actually warm! Grumples LOVES the water!!
Thanks for the recommendations. I’ll most definitely be back. Have you had Poe’s fries…omg
I did the bridge run (not the race) when my parents lived down there and it was TOUGH!!!!!!! I will for sure check out that neighborhood! I always need a new running path.
xo xo thanks so much for commenting.

Hey girl, looks fun. But PLEASE learn better posture in your yoga pose. I know it’s fun but there’s a lot off in your neck, shoulders, hip, arm, low back and ankle. You could hurt yourself.
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi Taylor. I’m no “yogi” by any means. That was just a fun pose for a photo, but thanks for the heads up. xo
