Oh boy am I excited and tired at the same time. I woke up at 4 am to get ready for my flight. I left the house around 5:15 am and made it to the airport at 6:30, checked in, went through security, grabbed a snack and then waited at my gate. Once you sit down at your gate, it feels like a release of anxious energy leaves the body, at least for me anyways.
I didn’t have time to grab a snack this morning and I put all my snacks for the trip in my actual luggage, so I stopped at the Farmer’s Market convent store at the Charlotte airport and bought a coconut water and a Go Organic dark chocolate pomegranate protein bar. I’m shocked at how delicious the protein bar was and I’m officially a fan! The pomegranate and dark chocolate flavors were very vibrant and it definitely didn’t taste like your average pasty protein bar.
The plane took off at 7 am! It was still dark. Watching the sun rise in the sky was a beautiful way to spend the morning.
It’s crazy how small this world is. The lady sitting next to me on the plane lived in the same area as me, we went to the same church, her girls went to school with my boyfriends little brother, and we had the same favorite restaurants and local boutiques.
About an hour into the plane ride, I had a cup of complimentary coffee. (my favorite part)
We arrived in Miami earlier than expected and now I have about three hours to spare. I wanted to get a good breakfast in, other than just a little protein bar before my flight and before I get to Puerto Plata. I stopped at Au Bon Pain at the airport and bought a small coffee and a Greek yogurt parfait. I’m sad I missed all of today’s activities with the group, but happy I’m making it now rather than never. I hope I have a little spare time before I meet up with the group so I can go down to the beach and maybe get a quick workout or run in!
Do any of you guys love airports? I don’t know what my fascination with them is…

People watching is the best airport activity. I always try to mentally guess where they are going and why. Or how old they are and what their life story is. I think people watching at the airport is so interesting. A lot of people going in a million different directions with different intents, it’s pretty crazy if you ask me. Have a great trip! I can’t wait to read all about it.

people watching is fun at airports 🙂 I don’t take the airplane often enough to really experience them.

I’ve been through the Charlotte airport a few times, and I’ve never seen the Farmer’s Market store! I’ll have to look out for it next time. And I also love airports hahaha

The only reason why I like airports is because that means I am going somewhere fun! 🙂

I LOVE airports. I love traveling. I love the sense of different people taking different paths. I make up scenarios for people I see about where they’re going and what they’re doing. Love the transience of airports.

I love airports…I don’t know what it is. I feel this overwhelming reality that at this one spot you have the capability to go anywhere in the world. The idea is exciting and brings out my adventurous side. Hope you have a wonderful trip!

Sorry if I missed a post, but who is putting on this trip and who else is going? Did you apply or were you invited? I’d love to see the other bloggers too, I bet you are excited to meet them! Have a great time!

I definitely agree that when you sit at your gate, you’re instantly relaxed! And I also love finding cool snacks at airports. I feel like a lot of them have stepped up their game for having organic/healthy snack options!

As I mentioned on your last post, I’ve never flown. I think I have only ever picked someone up from an airport once, and I was 10 or so, so I don’t really know.
Honestly, I get anxious just thinking about it all. Not actually flying, but everything leading up to it: arriving on time, finding your gate and terminal, etc. That scares me!

Hi! Long time reader (back to the undressed skeleton days) but first time commenting! Just wanted to say you inspired me to start my own blog. It’s so great that you are still upbeat after the flight was canceled. Have fun!

Oh my word, I’m the same way! I don’t know what it is either but I get so excited when going on a trip and having to go to the airport. Seeing all different kinds of people in one place is so interesting! Love all your pictures! Have a lovely and safe trip!

I can’t post a picture on my comment but I was just so mad when I saw this and I took a screen shot… you know all of the ads that are popping up for different diet pills? I just saw one where they used your before and after photos with the title “She wanted to lose a little fat but what happened next will shock you!” I can’t believe how these people do this and are actually making millions of dollars selling pills with photos that they don’t have the right to use. I don’t know if the ads change everytime you go to this link but this was the link that had the ad at the bottom with your photo.

I just want you to know that the last comment I posted was not spam, I know the comments look like it sometimes when there is a link.. I did actually see a spam diet pill ad using your photos.
