Good Morning Everyone!
It’s been a week since I’ve posted a recap. I’ve been running around all week going here and there! It doesn’t look like its going to slow down anytime soon. Luckily, I have this morning time to relax and recap for you guys before I get up and around for the day. I was actually up at 4:15 this morning so I could fit this post in. I’ve been having a hard couple of days with poison ivy all over my body. It makes it harder for me to get everything I need to do done, but I’m trying my best. These steroids have me looking pretty cute and the constant itchy feeling is killing me inside. I contemplated on sharing a couple photos from the hospital, but they are too embarrassing, so I’m keeping those to myself. Turns out, I’m pretty dang allergic to the stuff. (more about that later)
Around eight this morning, I headed to the kitchen to make some coffee and breakfast. I made two eggs over easy and two slices of Applegate bacon.
The pups were so dang cute this morning. I made Grumples a little bed by the door so he can look out. Tino sits up at the top of the couch so he can also look out too. When I headed over there, Tino leaned over and gave Grumples a huge smooch! Luckily, I had my snapcaht out!
Lets start with last Thursday night. I headed down the road to Dominic’s (Nick’s little brother) basketball game. It’s crazy how big they have all gotten since last year.
This game about gave me a heart attack. They went into overtime and won by two! So excited for their first game of the season. I’m sad I missed his Monday game, but I have poison ivy. Hopefully I can make it tonight.
Thursday night, Nick came over and made me dinner. We watch the Lions game. #detroitvseverybody
He made parmesan broccoli, grilled turkey burgers, and I made a tossed caesar salad with turkey pepperoni, croutons, avocado, and parmesan.
Friday Morning, I finished up the orders! It was madness. I have more to get done today too.
I love my Erin Condren stickers on the packages!
Friday morning, I ran three 10 minute miles on the treadmill at an elevation and then turned it down to a low speed and walked for about eighteen minutes at an elevation with five pound hand weights.
I was excited to workout in my new outfit from Satva. The clothes are super cute and incredibly soft!
Excuse my morning “no make-up, no hair style” look. They sent me over adorable yoga/running style pants with fun cut outs at the bottom. Those cut-outs are so in right now! They also sent me over a fun patterned tank top with a built in bra and cross cutouts.
They also sent me a code for my readers: satva1 -the code is for 20% your next order! All of their items are organic and you can read their story here! The items are made from eco friendly cotton and non-GMO bio-ingredients. The clothes fit so perfectly and are true to size.
I think this would make a great Christmas gift for your fitness friends!
After finishing up work on Friday, I headed to pick out an outfit for Nick’s company party. They always throw a great party. I actually decided to do something different to my hair, so I used a heat protector, and curled the ends with my straightener.
I forgot to take photo that night, but one of Nick’s coworkers said she’d send me one she took of us! I’ll post that when I get it 🙂 I had a black dress on with tan and lace detail. I paired the dress with a camel cardigan, black tights and black high heals. I also wore pearl earrings.
We left around eleven and headed back to watch elf with the pups. I fell asleep in the first five minutes.
So much love for this lil guy.
We had plans to spend all Saturday clearing out the backyard on the new house. It’s all we can do with it right now until the contractors show up to fix up the insides and structure. Before I spent all day working outside, I wanted a breakfast!
We headed down the street to Toast in Dilworth. I ordered two eggs over easy, wheat toast, bacon, and fruit. Everything was delicious!
I found the cutest little stocking at Home Depot that reminded me of Grumples. Now I need to find one that looks like Tino! I’m so excited to get Christmas pictures of the two. They’re going to hate me!
After breakfast, we headed to Home Depot to pick up yard tools, cleaning supplies, fire wood, and more!
We decided to pick up the dogs so they could run around the backyard while we cleared everything.
Nick started on the roof so he could clear all the leaves and clean out the gutters. This house has been empty for over a year.
We also met the neighbors and they were extremely nice. They bought a fix-up and redid it as well. This house was such a good find becuase it’s right between South Park and Dilworth. I’m so excited to see everything come to life!
The house is over a half acre, so we are going to extend a privacy fence all the way down to the road so the dogs have room to run.
This giant oak tree is going to be removed and we are going to add a back porch.
I removed about eight tree stumps from the ground and it was pretty dang therapeutic. And no, my socks do not match.
There was about a foot of leaves covering the backyard, so we spent hours raking and burning. The dogs were loving every second of it.
I was so proud of myself for starting the fire by myself without gas, using a really bad lighter, and with all the wind.
I even built the fire pit!:) It’s not permanent, but it was convent for burning leaves.
We tried to get a picture with the dogs but it was a struggle. We finally got one…KINDA.
The dogs were in definite need of a bath and so were we! I love the smell of bonfires, but HATE the smell on me.
I spent hours raking up leaves with Anthony, digging out tree stubs, burning leaves, bagging leaves, cutting barb wire off the fence, and ripping up roots and weeds. I was sure we’d dig up a dead body somewhere in there because we dug up about six pairs of shoes.
And it was freeeeeezing!
The dogs also ran around the house. It’s still empty and not livable yet. The contractors are going to come and fix everything after Christmas.
His fur makes him look so fluffy! He’s due for a cut soon.
Someone actually called the fire department because they saw smoke coming from the back of the house. No one has lived in the house for over a year, so they probably thought there was a fire. The fireman came to the back of the house and started cracking up when he saw our little fire pit.
The only room we can work on before the contractors come is the back mudroom. Here are the icky before photos. Below is our inspiration board and what we plan on doing to it. We started ordering supplies this week.
We are putting in hardwood floors to match the rest of the house, changing the backdoor, adding a new washer/dryer set, painting the brick and the walls, adding baskets, replacing the window, and putting in shelves/cabinets. We ripped up all the floors, walls and ceilings. I’ll post that photo soon. We are going with a rustic and grey look.
After a day of yard work, we headed over to my parents for the Hawkeyes game. I love my parents christmas decorations!
We had salad, pizza, and wings! Well deserved.
It was such a good game, and I’m so sad they lost. They played their hearts out though! I’m excited to see them play in the Rose bowl!
I spent Sunday cooking away! I have some of the recipes posted already, but will post the others later. Above is a crockpot cheese dip with hot peppers, bacon, and sausage!
Anthony and Nick were over watching football and testing all the food. We brought the cookies and baklava over to Nick’s parents house and I finally watched Elf! LOVED IT!
I’ll post the Baklava recipe later! It was sooooooo good!
I made some pineapple glazed ham!
And the best cheesy biscuits and gravy! Nick wants me to make a huge batch to bring over for out cookout/tailgate on Sunday!
My poison ivy outbreak started on Sunday night. There was just a spot on my face and a couple spots on my arm. At first, I thought it was just bug bites. I stopped at CVS to pick up some calamine lotion and Ibuprofen.
Monday morning breakfast: almonds, chocolate raisins, Greek yogurt with banana, and a bowl of cherries.
This is why running outside is so much better than the treadmill!
Even though I had a fantastic run, I shouldn’t have done it. I think the run and the hot shower spread the poison ivy all over.
Tuesday morning, woke up with it all over my body. My face was/and still is blistered and red. My eyes were almost glued shut on Wednesday and I couldn’t wait any longer. I had to go to the hospital. They got me in there right away because I had it in my lungs and my airways were starting to close and I also had a fever of 101.4. They quickly gave me a a Benadryl shot and a shot of steroids. They kept me under watch until the labored breathing went away and my temperature went down. Anthony and Ben both have poison ivy too, but Nick doesn’t. Lucky…
Yesterday morning, I headed over to pick up my prescriptions and then relaxed a bit with the pups. I was in so much pain.
It got better throughout the day. I decided to drive out to my parents house to let the dogs run around and play.
I feel so bad when I can’t go out and walk with them, so I like to let them just run and play to get all their energy out. They are the cutest!
I didn’t feel like cooking dinner so I bought soup, juice, watermelon, and a salad at Harris Teeter.
I also bought some lottery tickets 🙂
I was hoping I could run today, but doesn’t look like thats going to happen! I’m hoping it gets better by tonight!
I just relaxed last night editing photos and writing up the recipes!
Now, I’m off to go get ready for the day! So much to do and so little time!
