This afternoon, Paulina and I walked to Starbucks for a refreshing pick me up. It’s such a pretty walk and the weather was perfect. Whenever I walk by the display case full of scrumptious goodies, I contemplate getting something. Back in the day, it wasn’t a question. It was expected! I try not to stare. It helps that they put their nutrition on the case. I’m not sure why they haven’t created healthier muffins or desserts! I like that they have nuts and dried fruits, tho!
I ordered my new regular! Well…cold regular. Click here to find out my 80 calorie starbucks drink order.
We walked about a mile back while we enjoyed our drinks! We didn’t take the doggies because it was way too hot.
I’m still in the process of cutting Mr. Grumples hair. He has had some pretty bad experiences with groomers. After coming home from the groomer last time, he didn’t acknowledge me for days. He hid in the bedroom, hardly ate, and was not himself. Either something bad happened, or it’s just his anxiety. I don’t have the heart to do it anymore. It’s also $100+ for his grooming. I decided to read a lot about dog grooming, watch tutorials, and buy all the stuff to do it myself. We sit outside and groom him a couple hours a day for 3-4 days. We split up the steps. He truly enjoys it! I know there are really good groomers out there, but its just not for my dog. I also think this is a great way to bond and take care of him.
I picked up some roasted Artisan roasted red pepper hummus from Harris Teeter and its by far the best hummus I have ever eaten! Now, I’m going to go find something to eat in the kitchen!

The display case at Starbucks is always tempting. The thing that keeps me back is that there really aren’t any vegan options, unless you count the oatmeal (which is pretty good). But it would be nice if they had some vegan goodies. 😀
Grumples must really love being groomed!! I have two smooth collies, and although they don’t require any clipping, they shed a TON (more than the long-haired collies), so it’s not uncommon for me to brush them twice a day!

Thanks, Cath! I really love it down here!:) Although I’m jealous of all the cool places around you in CALI!

What’s the point of cutting your dog’s hair? They don’t cool through their skin. They don’t have pores like humans. They use their feet and paws.
Instead, you’re making him suseptable to parasites and sunburns. No wonder he’s upset.
This is coming from a husky owner that lives in the sun state.
Anne says
As well as their tounge.
Taralynn McNitt says
Because his coat will grow and grow and grow. Your husky sheds in the summer and my dog does not. He has curly hair which mats easily. We are always at he park so his hair gets stained and needs cut. I don’t shave him all the way down and he isn’t in the sun 24/7. I cut his hair in the winter and in the summer. It’s how I choose to raise my dog. Each to their own.
Cindy says
You’re right Taralynn. Your dog is hypoallergenic and has hair not fur. Totally different and needs to be trimmed like humans cut their hair. If you don’t cut it, it will grow and grow and grow and then mat.

Hello! I’m a stalker of your site, and I find you to be such an inspiration, as I’m a teen who would like to lose a few pounds. Thanks 🙂
I was wondering, what type of dog is Mr. Grumples, and do you run with him? I run with my labx but she only enjoys the first couple miles.
Cindy says
Starbuck’s protein box and fresh fruit cups are a great alternative when you’re on the go. They’ve been offering some healthier stuff recently in our area. 🙂

Lol…people like to add their 2 cents on how to raise your animals…just wait until you have kids! Then all the “experts” will come out to tell you how to do it. :P… But I agree about the shaving, that’s what we did when we had a shih tzu. They feel better when they get shaved! They jump around like new dogs! Lol!
Anyways can’t wait to try that star bucks concoction! I’m always too shy to ask for new things for restuarants to make…they always look at me like it’s *such* an inconvenience.

i was wondering ,, are you gaining any weight? cuz well idk,,just asking.

Hey Tara I love that fact that you look like the move down south has made you very happy!!
I am a pet stylist and I totally understand why you do not take him to some random person…especially since you move around a lot. It’s always best to find that one person who is right for your pet and right for you
alexis says
I accidentally pressed submit…anyways what I was saying is that I would never take my dog to a random they are my kids. If you have any questions about grooming or need any tips feel free to ask.

I tried ordering this drink today and the baristas got really confused…I ended up with a tall triple over a few ice cubes and a splash of skim milk. 🙁

Taralynn, my pup (60 lb retriever mix) doesn’t do well at the groomer either. I give her trims from time to time with regular scissors, but it’s not the greatest. Any tips on resources or products to use? She definitely could use a good summer cut. Thx so much!

Hey Taralynn!
I’m a barista at Starbucks and am constantly looking for new ideas for healthy drink options. I tried your triple shot frapp idea and am hooked now! I’ll definitely recommend it to anyone who wants a healthier option without the chemicals and fakeness of the “light” and “skinny” syrups. And I definitely agree with you about the pastries and other treats… I wish that there were more healthy options as well. Luckily most of the servings are perfect for sharing or saving half for later if you just can’t resist.
Thanks for the drink suggestion! It looks like you’re having a great time in your new city! 🙂
