Last night was so much fun. We headed to the historic South End of Charlotte for Food Truck Friday! I will always be fascinated by food trucks. I religiously watch food truck documentaries and the food truck challenges on the Food Network. I have secretly dreamed of owning a food truck and traveling around the U.S. but who hasn’t?
The weather was perfect for the event. Not too hot and not too cold! We got there a little later in the evening thinking the lines would be short, but boy were we wrong! The lines for each food truck wrapped around the area. These food trucks must be making a killing!
There were so many trucks to choose from. Lots of barbecue! We chose Papi Queso. I ordered a garlic grilled cheese sandwich! Jeremy ordered some kind of buffalo chicken grilled cheese sandwich. He said it was really good. I’m not a huge buffalo fan, but it looked good. I would have ordered bbq chicken cheese sandwich if they had one! That actually sounds delicious and now I must try to make one!
A grilled cheese sandwich is a grilled cheese sandwich right? Wrong! This grilled cheese sandwich was incredible. When you watch those overdramatic commercials as people pretend to enjoy something…well it kind of looked like that when I was eating it, but it was all real emotion. The cheese was melted perfectly, the bread was buttery and crisp. The garlic complimented the bread so well! I’ll stop before I make myself hungry…Oh but it was soooo good!
You can’t pass a cupcake truck at a food festival without buying a cupcake! Well you can, but that would be pretty foolish.
Plus the food truck was pink and adorable!
I chose the Best Budds cupcake! It was just a red velvet cupcake with cream cheese frosting topped with a toasted pecan.
You can tell I was happy to have my cupcake! 🙂
Jeremy bought one for himself too! He went with the classic red velvet.
The cupcake was perfect. I couldn’t name one thing to change! If they were to enter cupcake wars with this sweet cake, they’d win! I’m not a fan of cream cheese frosting, but would have eaten a tub of theirs! I also liked that the cupcake wasn’t overly gigantic! It was the perfect size to satisfy!
Overall we had a great night! Charlotte has a lot to offer!

I’m so happy to see you in Charlotte and my area! I’ve been reading your blog for a while, and am away from Charlotte at school right now, so seeing you get to know (and love!) the area makes me slightly less homesick. Charlotte has gorgeous springs–I hope you’re soaking it up!
If you get to Charlotte any more, I suggest you try Mac’s Biker Bar in South End for amazing barbecue. East Boulevard also has some really great walking around and restaurants–Cantina 1511 is one of my favorites. SouthPark area has great shopping, and you HAVE to take a walk with Grumples down Queen’s Road West in the gorgeous Myers Park area. Enjoy it!!

ahhh so happy to see you experienced food trucks!! I am the same as Bri, a college student from Charlotte always reading your blog. I plan to be at food trucks every Friday over the summer 🙂 You should definitely make a trip back and try The Herban Legend food truck! They have the most amazing black bean burger I’ve ever had….and I’m pretty picky! Their chicken shwarma is incredible too. My family always gets at least one grilled cheese to split when we go because how could you not?!? Also agree with what Bri said about Cantina 1511 and walking through Queens Road West. Charlotte is such a great spot to visit and has sooo many great places to visit, I could name hundreds! Hope you had a great trip. 😀
