Good Morning!
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I have so many posts lined up for you this week and so I wanted to get my Thanksgiving recap in before they all take over. Plus, I’m still in my Christmas pajamas, drinking coffee, and in the mood to blog before church.
I know you guys are probably getting sick of hearing about these oatmeal cream pies, but I made them again for the party!
Our friend Lyndsey made these incredible cute and delicious caramel latte cupcakes! She’s super talented.
These girls are the best 🙂 & trouble makers for sure.
I think Thanksgiving is Grumples favorite day of the year. He was up before me on Thanksgiving day, which is rare!
Coffee and the Macy’s day parade <3
He has this massive grill that could feed an entire restaurant. They don’t just make simple egg + bread french toast. They order specialty bread and then stuff it with apple cinnamon and cheese. It’s the craziest combination but the best tasting thing you’ll ever have for breakfast.
NOM NOM NOM.
Eggs and bacon for me! I tried to stay away from the carbs so I could be hungry for dinner. I did have a couple bites of the french toast. I couldn’t resist!
PREACH.
After breakfast, I needed to get out for some exercise. I took Grumples for a three mile walk .
The Lions kicked the Eagles butt!
I’ve never been a turkey person…but this turkey…was…out. of. this. WORLD! He infused it with all kinds of spices and apple seasoning. It was moist and juicy. I just wanted to eat the whole thing!
Pre dinner salad 🙂 The only veggies I was eating on Thanksgiving.
We had potatoes and gravy, eggplant parm, sweet potato casserole, stuffing, green bean casserole, corn, ham, and dinner rolls.
My plate!
We headed to the movies to go see “Creed.” I HATE boxing or fighting movies. I don’t even watch the fights on T.V. I’ll close my eyes the entire time. It just makes me sick, BUT, this movie was actually really good.
The day after Thanksgiving is all about Christmas decorations!
I had a salad for lunch with leftover turkey and chunks of seafood tortellini on top.
After we decorated, I sat down to watch the Iowa Hawkeyes go 12-0! YEAH BABY!
Later in the evening, we all headed uptown to watch the Hornets play.
Phyllis and I had some delicious margaritas!
After the game, we headed to Fitzgerald for appetizers and then the Wine Bar in Baxter village. I’m OBSESSED with that wine bar. It has cute fire places outside and it’s adorable inside. Don’t order their bread because it’s soooooooo addicting. You won’t be able to put it down.
Now that almost all of my sickness symptoms are gone, it’s time to get back out there and run. I was a little nervous since it’s been a week and a half, but it ended up being one of the best runs ever. I felt AMAZING! Not an ache or pain at all. I think the break and all that turkey benefited me for sure. Plus, I need to get the two pounds I gained over the weekend to drop off.
Last night, I watched the Notre dame game and had some salad and pizza. Mainly salad 😉

SO MANY NEW ITEMS UP IN SHOP 🙂
Three questions for you!!
- Did you go black Friday shopping? If so, what deals did you snag?
- How was your Thanksgiving?
- What do you do with all of your Thanksgiving leftovers?
Monica says
I cant go black friday shopping–too many people for me! I do go “black saturday” shopping though, and I got this adorable fur vest from AE !
Thanksgiving was great! Its the only time of the year I get pie and stuffing so I enjoyed every last bite! Unfortunately, no left overs for us 🙁
Currently drooling over that breakfast, it looks DELICIOUS.
and ps i absolutely love Nick’s Hornets sweater!
Taralynn McNitt says
I love sticking to the online shopping!! 🙂 I love AE vests.
The breakfast was OSOOOOOSOSOSOOSOS GOOD!
& I laughed so hard when Nick walked out with that sweater!
Emilee says
No Black Friday shopping for me! My husband works retail so I refuse to support the madness of shopping on a holiday to save a few bucks. I’ve only spent 1 out of the last 7 thanksgivings with him since we’ve been together! Online shopping is the way to go! Plus you can stay in your PJs ?
Taralynn McNitt says
HAHAHA I love it! & agree online shopping for the win!
Jessie M says
No real shopping for me, but did buy a few things online, and am waiting to see if any coupon codes pop up in my inbox for a few things I’ve had my eye on.
Thanksgiving here was interesting, my mom made THREE turkeys…for 6 of us. So needless to say, lots of leftovers. Some going in my belly, but lots getting cubed up & heading to the freezer to use in turkey noodle soup in the coming winter months.
Taralynn McNitt says
I feel like everyone online shops now, which makes it so much easier. Soon, we won’t have to worry about black friday.
THREE TURKEYS?! wow! I bet turkey soup is amazing! 🙂 Such a great idea too!
arielle says
We make Thanksgiving leftover sandwiches with turkey, stuffing, gravy and cranberry sauce!! The only shopping I did this weekend was online, the door busters aren’t worth the madness! Nothing for me, just crossing some things off of my holiday shopping list, but Im sure ill end up treating myself on some cyber monday deals 😉
Taralynn McNitt says
Yum that sounds delicious! I did the same as you for shopping! 🙂 Excited for midnight!
Natasha says
I am sooo envious. We don’t have Thanksgiving here in the UK. You guys in the US really know how to celebrate the holidays, wish I was living there! And the food….so much more and different that here.
Keep up the great work Taralynn, I love my weekend catch ups on your blog.
Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!!!!!!! xoxo
Taralynn McNitt says
You can always have a UK Thanksgiving 🙂 One of my readers celebrates in Belgium!
& Thank you for the kind words about my blog!! xo
Cait says
I made the oatmeal cream pies but made them way too big so I just had frosted oatmeal cookies and they.are.amazing!!! I am going to make me for my Christmas cookie exchange!
Taralynn McNitt says
That works too!:) I think people like them better like that anyways because they are easier to eat. 😉 I like them any way!
Mechela says
1.I only went out Friday to go toOld Navy to get their pixie dress pants for work since everything was 50% off. :p
2. My thanksgiving was good. My husband’s family lived in Korea twicr so dinner with them was beef bulgogi (korean bbq), rice, yaki mandu (fried dumplings), and seasoned broccoli. I made your apple crisp for desert (yum!)
3.as for leftovers, I have been eating the crisp for breakfast each morning!
Taralynn McNitt says
You are brave for going to Old Navy!! SO MANY PEOPLE 🙂 But glad you got their pants!
Your Thanksgiving food sounds really delicious and unique! Glad you loved the crisp as well 🙂
Amber says
I did some mini black Friday shopping. Lulus.com had an amazing sale and free shipping, definitely can’t beat that. I plan on doing the bulk of my holiday shopping on cyber Monday.
Taralynn McNitt says
LOVE LULUS 🙂 nice steal! & I’ll be doing some cyber monday shopping too!
Tara says
Great pics!! All that food looks absolutely delicious! I sent all of our leftovers home with everyone else so I wouldn’t be tempted to eat on them the rest of the week!
Taralynn McNitt says
Hahahaha smart thinking! & thank you! It was amazing!
nikita khara says
what did your parents do for thanksgiving?
Taralynn McNitt says
They went up to visit my brother in Washington D.C.! My parents haven’t been there yet since he’s been back and it was the perfect opportunity. They had so much fun.
Ashley says
What camera do you use?
Taralynn McNitt says
I use cannon t5i

I’m Canadian so I had my Thanksgiving a while ago, but yours looked so yummy and like a great time 🙂
I love all of the new additions to your shop!
When I read “On the night before Thanksgiving” in my head I read it as “On the night before Christmas”…I think I know where my head is at today.
Also I just wanted to add I’m loving your photography so much lately!
What camera do you use?

Thanks so much 🙂 I just use the cannon t5i
Jen Frick says
Your thanksgiving looked absolutely delicious!!! Nick’s family really knows how to put out a good spread! I also love mixing my corn into my mashed potatoes! Can’t have a thanksgiving without it! 🙂
1. I have never done the black friday thing (don’t like crowds!) and I’d rather shop online! Waiting on that cyber monday 🙂
2. My thanksgiving was great! We came back to Tampa right before so we spent the holiday with friends! Got all the fixings and I made my mom’s famous spring rolls – have you had spring rolls before? Also an apple pie! With your crust of course 😉
3. Matt and I were definitely eating leftovers for days. We didn’t do anything too fancy, but we did make omlettes using leftover turkey and ham! Going on a bit of a detox starting tomorrow, but it was fun to enjoy the holiday feast as long as we could.
So glad to hear you had a great thanksgiving! Can’t believe Christmas is so soon! xoxo
Jen | http://www.lettersandpearls.com
Taralynn McNitt says
They do indeed! Corn and potatoes are the best; ESPECIALLY with gravy!
1. I hate the crowds too! Waiting in line would be the WORST.
2. I love spring rolls 🙂 Never thought about making those for thanksgiving! I bet a thanksgiving leftover spring roll would deb fun to make! You could stuff it with turkey, cranberry, potatoes, and green beans!
3. Leftovers are the best part of Thanksgiving for sure! An omelet sounds good!
& I can’t believe Christmas is so soon too…..better start shopping!
Amanda says
I’m glad you had a great Thanksgiving!
I’ve been wondering how you like living in Charlotte. I’m hoping to visit soon; my husband and I are wanting to move to Charlotte or Denver (from Chicago) in the next year or two. Has making friends been pretty easy? How does it compare to other cities/states you’ve lived in?
Thanks for any advice you can offer 🙂
Taralynn McNitt says
I love living in Charlotte. Charlotte has been the easiest to adjust to. Everyone is friendly, it’s a very young city, and it’s very clean! I love it here and am excited to call this my home permanently. Charlotte is growing very very fast and it seems like a lot of people are moving here. Love it!
Kimberly says
I love those outfits and cannot wait to buy!!!
Taralynn McNitt says
Thanks! They’re up 🙂
Nicole says
Hi!
I have a very random question! I’ve been following you for a while and see that you have moved a lot in the past. What’s your secret to meeting new people?
I just moved to a new area ( like 3 weeks ago..) I joined a few classes/clubs to help but find that it’s difficult!
Could be a cool blog post too 🙂
Love all your posts!! (and no in-store black Friday shopping for me, just online shopping!)
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi Nicole!
Meeting new people can be hard. Luckily, I met a lot of my friends now through mutual friends. You can try looking into meet up groups for people who are in the same boat as you! I love the yoga groups.
But that is a great idea for a blogpost, so thanks!
xo xo xo
Nicole says
I’ve heard a bit about meet-up groups recently I’ll have to check it out! Thanks for the suggestion and have a great week :)!
Taralynn McNitt says
Thanks! Hope you have a great week as well! xo
Jessica says
1. Yes online! I am not a huge fan of big crowds or the idea of fighting over things the day after Thanksgiving. But we did end up going to best buy at 9 am and it wasn’t packed at all so we went inside andI bought a gift for my boyfriend. (He needs a new computer but we got him a chrome book.) It was nice to see everyone acting normal and pleasant on black Friday.
2. Very nice 🙂 we spent time with my boyfriends family on Thanksgiving and then after the quick best buy trip we drove two hours to my moms house. It was nice to see my family, we played board games, saw Creed (I loved it – I decided to watch Rocky yesterday), and went bowling!
3. I only had sweet potato left overs since that is what we brought (Pioneer woman’s recipe!) but I’ve been munching on them since Thanksgiving. When i have more I typically try to make sandwiches or salads or change them up some how!
I love how y’all have a big fun meal the night before and I’m a big fan of Thanksgiving breakfast! Those sound like fun traditions.
Taralynn McNitt says
Hahaha that is true. I couldn’t believe the people that skipped Thanksgiving to line up for deals. Willie and the guys went to best buy in the morning too and they also said it wasnt that crazy. He got a new macbook.
Your thanksgiving sounds a lot like mine! I wish my parents were here this year, but it’s great they got to see my brother. He was overseas last year, so it meant a lot to him.
The Pioneer woman has great recipes! 🙂
It is so much fun the night before! I’m a huge “traditions” person, so I love it!
Glad you had a great Thanksgiving!!

Katie Lynn Pote says
My husband and I have our little tradition of going out Black Friday to get coffee and walk around the mall and people watch. We don’t buy anything but just enjoy each others company.
Our Thanksgiving was delicious! My husband is in the military. A lot of his friends aren’t yet married so they all live in dorms. So every Thanksgiving we invite them all over and have a “Friendsgiving”. I love it.
Ni leftovers for us sadly. When there is I normally take bits of turkey and put it in a spring mix salad with almonds and cranberries. Its so good!
I love reading your blog. I relate to you so much when I read your posts its like I’m reading an old friends posts. I hope you had a great Thanksgiving Taralynn!
Taralynn McNitt says
I like that idea. I’m a huge people watcher too (in a non creepy way) lol. I love when people are so determined and on missions to get sales. The looks on their faces are priceless. I may have to go out and do the same thing next year.
That is so nice you had all of them over for Thanksgiving! & tell your husband I said thank you for his service! & that leftover salad combo sounds awesome!
Thank you for the kind words about my blog 🙂 xo xo – keeeeeeeep in touch!!
Angela says
1) I went Black Friday shopping, and worked on Black Friday as well… a couple of stores had 50% off though which was awesome!
2) My Thanksgiving was great! I love seeing family members I don’t see often and I love how happy everyone is!
3) You have to try this… I always eat leftover heated up apple pie for breakfast but instead of ice cream on top drench it in milk… it tastes soo good!
P.S. I love the three questions at the end of your posts… It’s so fun reading through all of the comments!
Taralynn McNitt says
I bet that was one busy day for you! I wish I would have stopped at bath and body! Hopefully you got some good steals.
Love that you had a good Thanksgiving:) I bet that was nice before the black friday madness!
That sounds SO STRANGE, but I like strange! I’ll have to try it!!
& I love it too! It lets me get to know my readers better! xo xo xo
Wonni says
Hi there!
So, you had a great Thanksgiving! That food looks so delicious!
Turkey is the one thing, that my mom dosn´t let go. We´re not having it for thanksgiving… she makes turkey for christmas.
I watched parts of the Macy´s Parade and laughed about the comments of the german newsman. His face was to cute. Absolutely confused.
I guess, it´s not easy to understand when you are not used to it.
Your pups are so adorable! ♥
Hehe, Nick´s sweater is great! And you both are so cute together!
Black Friday is coming up here, too. But I´m not the type for crowds. I hate it. So… I´m a onlineshopper, too. *cheese*
Hug the pups and have a nice day!
Wonni
Taralynn McNitt says
Hi Wonni!!
A lot of people make turkey for Thanksgiving! We usually do ham or lasagna. Last year, we did lamb chops!!
Nick cracked me up so hard when he walked out of the apparel shop with that sweater on!! He loves his sweaters!
What are you looking to buy during cyber monday!?! I’m so overwhelmed! I have a list and have bought zero things! whoops.

That spread looks fantastic. Can I join you next year?
Taralynn McNitt says
Haha. It was amazing! & sure! why not!?
Nicole says
I drove from DC to Boston for Thanksgiving weekend to do Italian Thanksgiving, too! We don’t do lasagna or pasta on Thanksgiving, but we are a roasted potatoes family (instead of mashed). Also, leftovers MUST be eaten with extra cranberry sauce and sweet pickles on snowflake rolls.
I indulged in Mike’s Pastry in Boston (my favorite Italian bakery)and lots of wine… back to salad and tuna today with lots of water!
Taralynn McNitt says
I LOVE roasted potatoes. 🙂 & that sounds like one unique leftovers dish! Love that you indulged this Thanksgiving 🙂
Heather says
Woah that breakfast looks amazing! I always like to make up eggs and a muffin or something while I watch the parade too! Looks like a great thanksgiving!
Taralynn McNitt says
It was:) I hope you had a great one too!! xo

1)On black friday I normally do my shopping in the stores..scary right? well this year I didn’t want to leave spending time with family to go out and fight the crowd over stuff when I may or may not get it. So this year I did online shopping I was lucky enough to snag a PS4 a Ninja blender a hand full of dvds a pyrex set some clemson football sweatpants and a fitbit charge HR. It was wayyyyy better then shopping in the store thats for sure I got to do it all from the bed in my PJ’s! 🙂
2)My Thanksgiving was busy my birthday actually fell on thanksgiving this year so my parents cooked me breakfast and then we went to two other houses for thanksgiving. We had a smoked turkey at one it cooked all night long in the smoker and it was so good!
3)I couldnt think of eating another thanksgiving meal after all I ate the only leftovers I brought home was a small box of turkey for the dogs and cats haha I promised them I would bring them some back.
Taralynn McNitt says
VERY SCARY! BUT, you snagged some AMAZING deals! My boyfriend snagged the PS4 online too! Great deals!
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!! I bet that turkey was fantastic!
I love that you promised your pets haha. I do the same from Grumps and Tino!

Looks like a GREAT Thanksgiving!!!
I did not go Black Friday shopping (not a fan of the crowds), but I am absolutely taking advantage of the Cyber Monday deals today! I’ll probably order a few things from Target, Macy’s and H & M.
I had a really nice Thanksgiving! My brothers came home and we spent the day cooking, eating, and watching football 😀
I have been living off leftovers since Thanksgiving. I love turkey sandwiches with cranberry sauce!
p.s. I am loving all the new items in your shop!! Will definitely have to order one of those Christmas sweaters 🙂
Taralynn McNitt says
It was:) So glad you had a great Thanksgiving as well! Eating and Football!! wooooo!

Can you please write a post about how you got into running? I’d love to run but I have a bit of knee pain and I don’t know how to ease into it. Thank you!!
Taralynn McNitt says
I can!:)
Emily B says
1. I’ve never been Black Friday shopping. Mostly because I grew up in a small town and the nearest anything was 2 hours away. I would only want to go just for the experience of it. But I don’t care so much about hitting the good deals.
2. My Thanksgiving was wonderful! Spent it with my husband’s side of the family and got to play with his nieces and nephews. I stuffed myself silly and I wasn’t the least bit sorry. I did have a nasty cold though and was super congested…and eventually lost my sense of taste at the end of the day..which kept me from eating a slice of peach pie. So that part sucked!
3. I made turkey wild rice soup the next day as well as Turkey melts. Topped mine with some dijon mustard and homemade cranberry sauce. Very delish!
Taralynn McNitt says
1. I think it would be fun to people watch and experience it all too. Cyber Monday is where it’s at!
2. Ugh. That is the worst! I just got over a cold before Thanksgiving! Glad you enjoyed yourself though! 🙂
3. Um. that sounds delicious!!!!
