Have you ever finished a banana split before it melts? If so, you must email me your secret. Although, I don’t mind drinking the bottom of the banana split bowl. Since it’s summer, I wanted to create a banana split that won’t split your pants, a lighter version. Most banana splits are over 1000 calories and that’s ridiculous for one dessert.
Most of the calories in your banana split should come from healthier ingredients like fruit and nuts. I didn’t want to take away from the original banana split, so I just chose lighter ingredients.
Ingredients:
1 Tsp Flax Seeds
1/2 Pineapple Slice
1 Tbsp No Sugar Added Strawberry Pie Filling (or fresh chopped strawberries)
1 Tbsp Sliced Almonds
3 Walnut Halves
1 Tsp Sugar Free Chocolate Syrup (or dark chocolate melted)
1 Tsp Sugar Free Caramel Syrup
1 Medium Banana
1/2 Cup light cool Whip
3 Maraschino Cherries (or fresh cherries)
3 Flavors of Skinny Cow Ice Cream
I had a hard time finding banana split bowls at the store, so I bought a butter holder and flipped it upside down.
Add 1/4 cup of whip cream to the bottom of the bowl.
Slice the banana in fourths and place it on top of the cool whip.
Dice up the pineapple and lay it on top of the banana.
Add another layer of cool whip over the pineapple.
I scooped 1/4 cup of each flavor for the split.
I drizzled 1 Tbsp of Chocolate Syrup and 1 Tbsp of Caramel syrup on the split with a spoon. After all the syrups were added, I topped the split with the almonds, walnuts and flax seeds.
This dessert would be so much fun to set up for a party with a DIY topping bar.
